Global geOreferenced Database of Dams (GOOD)Source

This is a global database of dams developed by digitising visible dams in Google Earth and naming them. The database has been developed as part of the pantropical hydrology research at King's College London (http://www.ambiotek.com/tropicalhydrology) . We have used it to examine hydrological inputs to these dams and the impacts of climate and land use change. It is made available to the user community in raw and unfinished form in the hope that others will contribute to its development so that it will grow in use and utility.

National Inventory of DamsSource

National Inventory of DamsThis feature layer, utilizing National Geospatial Data Asset (NGDA) data from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), displays dams within the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam. Per the USACE, "The National Inventory of Dams (NID) consists of dams meeting at least one of the following criteria:High hazard potential classification - loss of human life is likely if the dam fails.Significant hazard potential classification - no probable loss of human life but can cause economic loss, environmental damage, disruption of lifeline facilities, or impact other concerns.Equal or exceed 25 feet in height and exceed 15 acre-feet in storage.Equal or exceed 50 acre-feet storage and exceed 6 feet in height".The goal of the NID is to include all dams in the United States that meet these criteria. (Link to Metadata) The Renewable Energy Atlas of Vermont and this dataset were created to assist town energy committees, the Clean Energy Development Fund and other funders, educators, planners, policy-makers, and businesses in making informed decisions about the planning and implementation of renewable energy in their communities - decisions that ultimately lead to successful projects, greater energy security, a cleaner and healthier environment, and a better quality of life across the state. Energy flows through nature into social systems as life support. Human societies depended on renewable, solar powered energy for fuel, shelter, tools, and other items for most of our history. Today, when we flip on a light switch, turn an ignition or a water faucet, or eat a hamburger, we engage complex energy extraction systems that largely rely on non-renewable energy to power our lives. About 90% of Vermont's total energy consumption is currently generated from non-renewable energy sources. This dependency puts Vermont at considerable risk, as the peaking of world oil production, global financial instability, climate change, and other factors impact the state.

Water Supply Storage Dams (Major System Storage)Source

Layer containing water supply storage dams (location and extent). These are major water supply system storages. Captured using as-constructed drawings and aerial imagery, and includes storage dam name, category / type, asset identifier, as=-constructed plan references plus other key attributes. This layer is intended to be used to locate and obtain details on Melbourne Water's water supply transfer assets for asset management, buildover (Dial-Before-You-Dig) and operational or maintenance purposes.This layer is updated when new information is received from completed projects and/or updated from certified survey plans. Melbourne Water are responsible for reviewing and accepting information which results in update to the existing layer.Whilst every effort has been taken in collecting, validating and providing the attached data, Melbourne Water Corporation makes no representations or guarantees as to the accuracy or completeness of this data.
