The database of the EU project MARS contains point data of macroinvertebrates, fish and macrophytes including hydromorphological, physico-chemical and land use information. Most biotic and physico-chemical data have been collected as part of an extensive national monitoring survey. Land use infromation (ATKIS land cover data) was GIS-based generated for fixed buffer strips with different widths and lengths. The Washington State Department of Ecology has conducted monthly water quality monitoring at hundreds of freshwater and marine water quality stations throughout the state since 1959. Ecology monitors about 80 stations each year, some on a one-year basis, some on a five-year rotation, and some are monitored continuously. This spatial data set shows the location of these monitoring stations.

The Freshwater Ecosystems Explorer is a free and easy to use data platform providingnaccurate, up-to-date, high-resolution geospatial data depicting the extent freshwater ecosystems change over time. By helping decision-makers understand dynamic ecosystem changes, the data presented on this open access platform is intended to drive action to protect and restore freshwater ecosystems and enable countries to track progress towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal Target 6.6.

The PLANKTON*NET data provider at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research is an open access repository for plankton-related information. It covers all types of phytoplankton and zooplankton from marine and freshwater areas. PLANKTON*NET's greatest strength is its comprehensiveness as for the different taxa image information as well as taxonomic descriptions can be archived. PLANKTON*NET also contains a glossary with accompanying images to illustrate the term definitions. PLANKTON*NET therefore presents a vital tool for the preservation of historic data sets as well as the archival of current research results. Because interoperability with international biodiversity data providers (e.g. GBIF) is one of our aims, the architecture behind the new planktonnet@awi repository is observation centric and allows for mulitple assignment of assets (images, references, animations, etc) to any given observation. In addition, images can be grouped in sets and/or assigned tags to satisfy user-specific needs . This dataset concerns the development of models for describing the acute toxicity of major ions to Ceriodaphnia dubia using data from single salt tests and binary mixture tests described in two other datasets under this research effort. It provides the data used in model development in the associated journal article. It also provides concentration-response data and associated general chemistry conditions for 3 experiments consisting of 14 toxicity tests on more complex mixtures of major ions based on data regarding elevated major ions in effluents and receiving waters, which was used for testing the models. . Waterbase is the generic name given to the EEA's databases on the status and quality of Europe's rivers, lakes, groundwater bodies and transitional, coastal and marine waters, on the quantity of Europe's water resources, and on the emissions to surface waters from point and diffuse sources of pollution. The dataset contains time series of nutrients, organic matter, hazardous substances and other chemicals in rivers, lakes and groundwater, as well as data on biological quality elements (BQEs) such as phytobenthos and macroinvertebrates in rivers and lakes. A list of monitoring site identifiers with selected attributes, reported through WFD and WISE Spatial data reporting, is added to dataset as spatial reference.
