Baker River Sockeye SalmonSource

This dataset was updated in January 2013 to make use of newer watershed boundaries that better depict the freshwater range of Pacific salmon and steelhead under NOAA Fisheries' jurisdiction. They are provided for general reference only and do not constitute a legal description of any species listed under the U.S. Endangered Species Act.Throughout the West Coast, two species of sockeye salmon are protected under the Endangered Species Act. The West Coast Region works with its partners to protect, conserve, and recover sockeye by addressing the threats these animals face and by restoring the habitat on which they depend.

Forest Treatments Map

This map displays forest treatments conducted by New Mexico Forestry Division and its partners including New Mexico Game & Fish. Forest treatments improve forest health, improve wildlife habitatsand reduce catastrophic fire risk in the wildland-urban interface (WUI)by increasing the defensible space around homes. Forest treatments are presented by state fiscal year (July 1 -June 30) and span from 2009 -2018.Data is compiled from a variety of sources, including N.M.State Forestry Division, N.M.Game & Fish, the N.M.Resource Geographic Information System Program Data Clearinghouse (RGIS), the U.S.GeologicalSurvey, and Bureau of Land Management. This mapping application is compatible on Chrome, Firefox,Internet Explorer(v11)and Safari, as well as mobile devices.

Habitat Map of ScotlandSource

These data provide an initial release of combined NVC conversion data with data from the Saltmarsh survey, Sand Dune survey, Coastal Vegetated Shingle survey and extracts from the Native Woodland Survey. National Forest Inventory / SG IACS / HES Historic Land use AssessmentThe process of reclassifying NVC to EUNIS/Annex I varies depending on the source of the data. The NVC conversion data and the Sand Dune data have initially been converted to Annex I on a site by site basis. Annex I values have then been mapped to EUNIS at a national level. None Annex I qualifying habitats have now been reclassified to EUNIS also. The Saltmarsh data have been mapped to both EUNIS and Annex I directly at site level. The Coastal Vegetated Shingle survey was conducted using Annex I. Only 2 Annex I habitats were mapped. These were later given EUNIS codes, one of which was a composite code. It is not possible to determine the component EUNIS types for this composite code.Data from the Native Woodland survey has been extracted on the basis of NVC types mapping to specific Annex I habitats. This has been augmented by SNH specialist staff. The data do not contain mosaics, geometries have been duplicated. Each habitat has:a geometry,a habitat proportion value that represents the area of the polygon covered by that habitat, an area figure in hectares (calculated from the proportion and the polygon geometry). a mosaic field indicates if the habitat is part of a mosaic a habitat number field indicates the number of habitats occurring within a specific polygona habmos source indicating a broad grouping of data processed in a particular waya site or survey id indicating which site or survey from the wider series is referenceda survey type field that indicates the classification system used in the original surveya survey date which gives the year in which the data was collecteda data owner - indicating where the data IPR residesHabitat_code – This can be a EUNIS code from EUNIS , the European Nature Information System or a new EUNIS unit as created in the SNH Manual of terrestrial EUNIS habitats in Scotland (https://www.nature.scot/snh-commissioned-report-766-manual-terrestrial-eunis-habitats-scotland)New EUNIS units can be new sub-type that relates to an Annex I habitat typenew sub-type that does not relate to an Annex I habitat typecomposite unit that includes a number of EUNIS types, all of which translate to the same Annex I habitat type.Habitat_name – For EUNIS codes including EUNIS composite types that match Annex I habitats this is the Annex I habitat code and name as listed in Appendix1.For EUNIS types that do not equal an Annex I habitat this is the EUNIS name as listed in the SNH EUNIS manual correspondence tables (see Document downloads under https://www.nature.scot/snh-commissioned-report-766-manual-terrestrial-eunis-habitats-scotland)EUNIS_COMPONENT - This field is used to list the EUNIS type if Habitat_code is a composite unit.COMPONENT_NAME - The name of the EUNIS type.Where contributing data has been surveyed at Annex I level or converted to Annex I and then to EUNIS, the HABITAT_CODE field may contain EUNIS and EUNIS composite codes, but there will not be any values in the EUNIS_COMPONENTS or COMPONENT_NAME fields as it is not possible to derive component codes from the Annex I habitat or EUNIS composite.

Monarch Butterfly Habitat Restoration: Polygon (Feature Layer)Source

Activities meeting the Monarch Butterfly Habitat Restoration initiative are a subset of activities that benefit native plants, and in doing so, benefit pollinators. Activities such as thinning, prescribed fire and other methods of fuel removal, treating invasive species and acres of native plantings can benefit Monarchs. Activities are self-reported by Forest Service Units and are reported when completed. This layer does not contain all activities that benefit Monarchs because this is a relatively new requirement for the program. The quality and comprehensiveness of this data will increase over time. Metadata

This dataset shows the general location of shrubsteppe and eastside steppe as defined by WDFW’s Priority Habitats and Species (PHS) program. It shows where WDFW recommends counties and cities require site-specific information be gathered to inform site-scale land use decisions. It is not designed to directly inform parcel-scale land use decisions, rather it is designed to be used as a flagging tool. As such, if this dataset errs, it is more likely to over-identify shrubsteppe and eastside steppe than under-identify. It is “best available science” regarding the general location of shrubsteppe and eastside steppe in Washington.<o:p></o:p>

VT Biodiversity Project - Core HabitatsSource

(Link to Metadata) This is a raster dataset depicting those areas in Vermont which are at least 100 meters distant from a zone of human disturbance. Grid cells are 26.779 meters. Human disturbance zones were defined as developed, industrial, or residential areas, agricultural openings, and roads. Wetlands, open water, rock outcrops/talus slopes, and other natural openings, and areas identified in imagery as having recently undergone timber harvesting, were considered low-disturbance non-forest--they were not used to generate disturbance edges, nor were they removed from the "core habitat" dataset.

WADNR PUBLIC Alder IndexSource

The land base of the Pacific Northwest includes large areas that could support hardwoods or a hardwood component. Often, however, site index, the most commonly used measure of a site's potential productivity, is not available for red alder as other species occupy the site. In order to make site-specific management decisions, the suitability for red alder production can be assessed by geographic and topographic position, soil moisture and aeration during the growing season, and soil fertility and physical condition (Harrington 1986). The difficulty of weighing these physical factors to determine site suitability appears to be a major impediment to the establishment of red alder plantations. Additionally, forest managers are lacking a planning tool that would consider red alder in the landscape for long term management plans. To assist forest managers in their planning and site selection efforts, we developed a GIS-based Red Alder Site Suitability Model based on physical criteria identified by Harrington (1986) as most influential on the productivity of red alder. The major components of the model are elevation, topographic position, slope, aspect, soil type, and soil depth. The model was implemented in a GIS (ESRI ArcPro v.3.0) raster environment with topographic position, slope, aspect, and elevation derived from a 10-meter digital elevation model (DEM), using lidar data where available. Topographic position class of valley, lower slope, flat slope, middle slope, upper slope, or ridgetop was derived from the topographic position index (TPI) using standard deviation thresholds as described by Weiss (2001). The soil texture and depth were derived from Washington DNR’s corporate soil data layer. Each pixel was then classified and assigned one of four suitability categories: High, Medium, Low, and No Potential. Because of the level of spatial detail of the model, forest managers can assess the potential of red alder management on any given site, such as planned timber harvest. Additionally, the model can be used at a larger scale, i.e. planning for future product diversification in a watershed. The model has been cursorily field-verified on existing red alder plantations and compared with locations and site index of natural red alder stands for DNR's forest inventory system. Initial results indicate that the model is accurate in identifying sites with potential for intensive red alder management. Local knowledge will still be an important factor in the application of the model. Frost pockets or areas susceptible to other physical damage such as ice damage (i.e. within the east wind drafts of the Columbia River Gorge) are not identified in by this model. The usefulness of this model will be determined by the experience of the field staff over time. References:Harrington, Constance A. 1986. A method of site quality evaluation for red alder. Gen. Tech.
