Local Law Enforcement LocationsSource

The local law enforcement locations feature class/ shapefile contains point location and tabular information pertaining to a wide range of law enforcement entities in the United States. Law Enforcement agencies "are publicly funded and employ at least one full-time or part-time sworn officer with general arrest powers". This is the definition used by the US Department of Justice - Bureau of Justice Statistics (DOJ-BJS) for their Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (CSLLEA). Unlike the previous version of this dataset, published in 2009, federal level law enforcement agencies are excluded from this effort. Data fusion techniques are utilized to synchronize overlapping yet disparate source data. The primary sources for this effort are the DOJ-BJS CSLLEA from 2008 and the previously mentioned 2009 feature class from Homeland Security Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD). This feature class contains data for agencies across all 50 U.S. states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.

Oil and Natural Gas WellsSource

This feature class/shapefile represents Oil and Natural Gas Wells. An Oil and Natural Gas Well is a hole drilled in the earth for the purpose of finding or producing crude oil or natural gas; or producing services related to the production of crude or natural gas. Geographic coverage includes the United States (Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming) as well Oil and Natural Gas wells in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Manitoba that are within 100 miles of the country's border with the United States. According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA) the following states do not have active/producing Oil or Natural Gas Wells: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Massachusetts, Maine, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Some states do have wells for underground Natural Gas storage facilities where these have been identified they were included. This layer is derived from well data from individual states and provinces and United States Agencies. This layer is complete for the United States but further development of data missing from two Canadian provinces and Mexico is in process. This update release includes an additional 497,036 wells covering Texas. Oil and gas exploration in Texas takes advantage of drilling technology to use a single surface well drilling location to drill multiple bottom hole well connections to extract oil and gas. The addition of Well data from Texas results in the addition of a related table to support this one surface well to many bottom hole connections. This related table provides records for Wells that have more than one bottom hole linked to the surface well.

POL TerminalsSource

This feature class/shapefile represents Petroleum Terminals. Petroleum Terminals are used to provide storage of both crude oil and refined petroleum products. Data contains locational and other attribute information for operable bulk petroleum product terminals with a total bulk shell storage capacity of 50,000 barrels or more, and/or ability to receive volumes from tanker, barge, or pipeline. Geographical coverage includes the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Northern Marina Islands. This update includes revalidation of 658 records, the addition of 10 new records and the removal of 47 records for a total of 2,302 terminals. 8 terminals were removed because it was confirmed that they no longer exist. 22 terminals were removed because they were confirmed as duplicate records. 17 terminals were merged with adjacent terminals. Domains for the TYPE and COMMODITY fields were standardized in the layer and added to the metadata.

Salmon Fishery StatusSource

The Technical Expert Group on Salmon (TEGOS) assesses the status of stocks annually in designated salmon rivers and issues associated catch advice for the following season using data from salmon angling and commercial catch records, fish counters and other sources to determine whether these stocks are meeting their respective conservation limits and to identify whether a surplus of salmon is available to be sustainably fished. Conservation limits are essentially the minimum number of returning adult salmon a river should have to ensure its stock remains sustainable.  For a number of rivers with a sizeable multi-sea-winter (MSW) stock component, catch advice is issued separately for 1SW (grilse) and MSW stocks.  Where stocks are below the conservation limit, catch-&-release-only fishing or closure of the fishery may be advised.  This scientific catch advice is presented to salmon fishery managers for decision-making on fishery status. Following a public consultation period, the fishery status and total allowable catch for salmon rivers are implemented in legislation each December for the following year.   Salmon rivers may also be subject to further bye-laws on opening & closing dates, bag limits, permitted methods, tag requirements, etc.  More information on salmon angling regulations can be found at https://fishinginireland.info/salmon/salmonregs/.  Salmon angling licenses may be purchased online at https://store.fishinginireland.info/ or at local IFI offices.  More information on the National Salmon Assessment and related annual reports can be found at https://www.fisheriesireland.ie/what-we-do/research/technical-expert-group-on-salmon-tegos.

Social Housing Construction Status Report Q4 2020Source

The Minister recently published the Construction Status Report (CSR) for Quarter 4 2020. The CSR provides scheme level detail on new build social housing activity in each local authority area. Commenting on the report Minister O’Brien said, “The report shows a strong pipeline for new social homes with 8,555 social homes on site and over 9,000 homes at various stages of the approval process. The key priority for my Department is increasing the supply of social housing, I intend to publish our new housing plan ‘Housing for All’ later this summer. It will build on our commitments in the Programme for Government and provide a roadmap, with a whole of Government approach, to outline how we get to a housing system that gives us the sustainable supply we need, at a price that people can afford, with appropriate housing options for the most vulnerable in our society.”

Update on Geothermal Direct-Use Installations in the United StatesSource

An updated database of geothermal direct-use systems in the U.S. has been compiled and analyzed, building upon the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) Geo-Heat Center direct-use database. Types of direct-use applications examined include hot springs resorts and pools, aquaculture farms, greenhouses, and district heating systems, among others; power-generating facilities and ground-source heat pumps were excluded. Where possible, the current operation status, open and close dates, well data, and other technical data were obtained for each entry. The database contains 545 installations, of which 407 are open, 108 are closed, and 30 have an unknown status. A report is also included which details and analyzes current geothermal direct-use installations and barriers to further implementation.
