Forest Treatments Map

This map displays forest treatments conducted by New Mexico Forestry Division and its partners including New Mexico Game & Fish. Forest treatments improve forest health, improve wildlife habitatsand reduce catastrophic fire risk in the wildland-urban interface (WUI)by increasing the defensible space around homes. Forest treatments are presented by state fiscal year (July 1 -June 30) and span from 2009 -2018.Data is compiled from a variety of sources, including N.M.State Forestry Division, N.M.Game & Fish, the N.M.Resource Geographic Information System Program Data Clearinghouse (RGIS), the U.S.GeologicalSurvey, and Bureau of Land Management. This mapping application is compatible on Chrome, Firefox,Internet Explorer(v11)and Safari, as well as mobile devices.

Important Plant Areas of New Mexico

Important Plant Areas (IPAs) are a product of The New Mexico Rare Plant Conservation Strategy. The strategy is an integral part of the State of New Mexico’s Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department, Forestry Division’s Forest Action Plan, which identifies natural resource conditions, needs and opportunities across all land ownerships in the state and guides long-term Division management.

New Mexico Environmental Review Tool (ERT)

An interactive tool for conservation planning and review of important resources for wildlife and habitats. The ERT is a partnership that draws upon expertise in wildlife and information management from the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF), Natural Heritage New Mexico, and NatureServe. It provides conservation information on wildlife and habitat diversity, protected lands, and other natural resources, and allows users to submit proposed projects for review of potential impacts to special status species and their habitats in New Mexico.

PHS Columbia Plateau Regional Biodiversity Areas and CorridorsSource

This dataset shows the general locations of Regional Biodiversity Areas and Corridors (BAC) for the Columbia Plateau as defined by WDFW’s Priority Habitats and Species (PHS) program. This dataset was derived from data generated by the Washington Connected Landscapes Project: Analysis of the Columbia Plateau Ecoregion.  For its purpose as a tool to flag regions with high-quality, intact wildlife habitat and corridors, this data is Best Available Science according to the criteria provided in WAC 365-195 for the Growth Management Act (GMA, RCW 36.70A).

Salvage Permits (Public Read)Source

The records in this data were submitted by members of who have salvaged deer or elk meat and have submitted the information required for a WDFW Salvage Permit. See the WDFW Salvage webpage for more information or to create a new permit. The fields displayed in this public view are limited to location and animal details. These details may have been updated by WSDOT staff. Updates will automatically be shown in this layer. This layer does not contain personal information reported by the permittee.Period of this data is from Aug 2020 to present.A rule adopted by the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission in 2016 allows people to legally salvage deer and elk carcasses in the state. The rule specifically applies to deer and elk killed by motor vehicles. Only elk – not deer – may be salvaged in Clark, Cowlitz, and Wahkiakum counties, because federal laws prohibit handling endangered Columbian white-tailed deer in southwest Washington. See WAC 220-400-040 for salvage rule details. The public may view all salvaged deer and elk permits in a webmap (Aug 2020 to Present).

Species Ranges 2015 – State Wildlife Action PlanSource

Washington's State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP, 2015) is a comprehensive plan for conserving the state's fish and wildlife and the natural habitats on which they depend. It is part of a nationwide effort by all 50 states and five U.S. territories to develop conservation action plans and participate in the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants (SWG) Program. These data layers represent both the observed species range, as well as, the modeled potential species range for Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN), as identified in Washington’s State Wildlife Action Plan, 2015.  Species range is defined as the geographic area, in which a species regularly occurs within Washington, including areas used for breeding as well as important distinct foraging, wintering, or migration areas, where appropriate. Range does not include accidental, infrequent, or peripheral areas that are disconnected from the regularly occurring area or wintering or migration areas that are generally broad and nonspecific. SWAP SGCN species ranges (observed and potential) are spatially represented, using USGS watershed boundaries (USGS hydrologic units - HUCS) at various scales.   Potential suitable habitat distribution data for each of the SCGN species was derived from “Ecological Systems” data.   Ecological Systems were developed by NatureServe to provide a mid-scale ecological classification, for uplands and wetlands, useful for conservation and environmental planning. The Washington State SWAP data is organized as a collection of individual species ranges (observed and potential range polygons), as well as, potential habitat distribution raster files - that have been compressed (into a ZIP files) for download. No map services exist for these data at this time.

Triton Field Trials Changes in Habitat 360-degree Underwater VideosSource

This dataset contains the underwater 360-degree video files recorded with a Boxfish 360 camera in La Jolla, CA, near a gravity base anchor of the CalWave xWave wave energy converter in December 2021 over three days, at dawn, noon, and dusk. It was generated to test the ability of using this type of camera mounted on an aluminum frame as a video lander to monitor the artificial reef effect of marine energy devices and associated seafloor structures. The Boxfish 360 is made of 3 cameras each recording its own set of videos. The videos are MOV files that can be viewed individually with any video reader but need to be stitched together to create the 360-degree footage. This dataset contains all the raw video files collected at dawn, noon and dusk on 11/30/2021, 12/01/2021 and 12/02/2021, for about 1h each time. This dataset is associated with the journal manuscript below (linked in resources): Hemery, L.G.; Mackereth, K.F.; Gunn, C.M.; Pablo, E.B. Use of a 360-Degree Underwater Camera to Characterize Artificial Reef and Fish Aggregating Effects around Marine Energy Devices. J. Mar. Sci. Eng. 2022, 10, 555. https://doi.org/10.3390/jmse10050555

VT Wildlife Linkage HabitatSource

(Link to Metadata) The Wildlife Linkage Habitat Analysis uses landscape scale data to identify or predict the location of potentially significant wildlife linkage habitats (WLH) associated with state roads throughout Vermont. For purposes of this project, WLH is a term used to describe those habitats associated with Vermont roads where wildlife move, migrate, and access various other habitats and parts of their range (similar to, but broader than, wildlife corridors). This project relied on available GIS data including: (a) land use and land cover data; (b) development density data (E911 sites); and (c) contiguous or "core" habitat data from the University of Vermont. The GIS conserved lands data was also used for this project as a way of analyzing the feasibility for conserving or ranking potentially significant WLHs identified as a result of this project. These data were classified according to their relative significance with respect to wildlife movement and habitat areas. The resulting spatial layer is a statewide raster coverage describing the predicability of finding suitable habitat.
