The Office of the State Engineer is charged with administering the state's water resources. The State Engineer has authority over the supervision, measurement, appropriation, and distribution of all surface and groundwater in New Mexico, including streams and rivers that cross state boundaries.

The State Engineer is also Secretary of the Interstate Stream Commission.

This report documents the process of developing the geodatabase of Public Water Suppliers
(PWS) in New Mexico for the Office of the State Engineer’s Water Use and Conservation Bureau
(OSE WUCB). This ESRI-based geodatabase includes geospatial data of non-transient PWS
locations, their associated service areas, and the locations of their supply sources.
