Overview

The data sets below contain information on locations, volumes and value of flexibility we are looking to procure following the latest analysis – Tranche 7A. We are looking to mitigate a range of constraints across multiple voltage levels on the network. As they involve different methods of assessment and operation, our Constraint Management Zones (CMZs) are split into **HV Zones**, covering constraints at 33kV and above, and **LV Zones**, covering constraints on our 6.6kV and 11kV networks. Our HV Zones have Secure and/or Dynamic products available, and, where applicable, Sustain (also referred to as HV Sustain). In LV Zones we are only looking to procure Sustain services (also referred to as LV Sustain) from providers connected at low voltages (LV customers). Sustain is the same product across both LV and HV zone, with the same parameters and customer eligibility; HV or LV is only to differentiate between the constraint levels. Once you register your assets on [Market Gateway](https://marketgateway.nationalgrid.co.uk/), they will be automatically matched with any suitable CMZ. More information on all products can be found in our latest [Procurement Statement (April 2023)](https://www.nationalgrid.co.uk/downloads-view-reciteme/631494). Information on all the constraints we have assessed can be found in the [Distribution Network Options Assessment (DNOA)](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/distribution-network-options-assessment-dnoa). # LV CMZ Data: Information on **WHERE**, **WHEN** and **HOW MUCH** flexibility we are looking to procure to manage our 6.6kV and 11kV networks can be found in [FSP_Information – CMZ_LV_INFORMATION Table.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/bac649c6-3629-4657-82c8-eb7b707ec16d). For all our LV zones, we are looking to procure **Sustain**, **demand turn down** services only. The above provides the list of zones, how much flexibility we are targeting (Maximum kW column), the maximum price we can pay (Ceiling Price column), and when we require the service to run (dates, delivery periods, days of the week). # HV CMZ Data – Overall requirements As the requirements for our HV Zones are a lot more targeted and complex, these are covered into a number of separate files, each focusing on certain parameters. Overview information on **WHERE** we are looking to procure flexibility can be found in [FSP_Information – CMZ_INFORMATION Table.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/6ce15d38-1bf2-4139-a24b-d25afebbbcd3). This provides basic, overview information containing the list of zones, main flexibility product we are after, and the service type: e.g. demand turn down (DTD) / demand turn up (DTU) / generation turn down (GTD) / generation turn up (GTU). The geographical information section provides more details on where we require services in each zone. Each zone is broken down into Primary Substations, listed in [CMZ_Primary_Substation_List.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/68fcd7f9-22d4-4bb0-bac1-c5794bf6e829). An indication of **WHEN** and **HOW MUCH** flexibility we expect to require is available in two separate files. [FSP_Information – MW_PROFILES Table.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/9a2f9463-981f-418b-854c-c2edf0841997) contains a breakdown of peak MW values over time. These profiles will vary throughout the year, as network loading changes, and the peak MW represents the capacity (peak power) we will likely look to procure to ensure our networks remains compliant. For MWh volumes, the total energy we are looking to procure, [FSP_Information – MWh_VALUES Table.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/882bbc26-25db-49a3-b0f3-76d3172889b5) provides further details on how much energy in total we expect to procure, broken down into monthly volumes. # HV CMZ Data – Long Term and Sustain requirements In certain HV zones we are looking to secure a certain amount of flexibility service further ahead. We are providing, alongside the overall requirements within each CMZ, further information on how much and when we will look to procure further ahead, in our **Long Term Trades**, across the long term version of the core product and **HV Sustain**. This will only cover the HV zones where this is suitable / required, so some zones might not appear in this data. [FSP_Information – CMZ_LONG_TERM_INFORMATION Table.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/1bc306e1-75a9-4a62-9cf1-4116c1acc8db) provides details of **WHEN** and **HOW MUCH** we are looking to cover in the Long Term trades with the core products (Secure and/or Dynamic). Each delivery window has a start date, end date, start times, end times, which days of the week we require, and the required capacities (Maximum kW). Where suitable, we are also using the Sustain product within HV zones to cover part of the overall requirement, to provide another market opportunity which is simpler and less targeted. [FSP_Information – CMZ_SUSTAIN_INFORMATION Table.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/571057c8-ac7d-453e-95d6-a05da3d3f111) contains details on how much and when we would require the Sustain product within HV zones. The data is presented in the same format as the LV Zones, with the same parameters given the product itself is the same but used to support at a different network level. To help visualise the requirements, we have also prepared graphs showing the Long Term and Sustain requirements, which have been packaged into the [T7A_Long_Term_MW_Profile_Graphs.zip](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/18090108-80ac-403e-bf10-4294c940c599). # Other data sets **Geographical information** is available in the form of Postcodes data ([CMZ_Procurement_Postcodes.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/642d5423-ce31-4c65-80a5-a6693970fe1a) and [CMZ_LV_Procurement_Postcodes.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/bfa16d35-453a-4652-8e54-2b0a26ce36a2)) and [Polygons](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-polygons) associated with each zone. As with all geographic data, the Postcodes and Polygons are indicative only and final mapping of assets to CMZs will be carried out on an asset by asset basis following their registration on the Market Gateway. The list of post codes is deliberately broad, to avoid excluding assets from participation. Wider work is being carried out to improve the accuracy of this data. All the HV CMZ information is also available in a **database format** ([T7A CMZ PUBLISHED DATABASE.zip](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/95f64e58-c4b5-4fd4-b384-4f450182e6ea)) alongside useful **SQL queries** for easy extraction of data ([T7A SQL Queries.zip](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/ad26159f-568e-4971-85ce-6f69e0012de9)). The database also contains Distribution Future Energy Scenario DFES) based signposting for flexibility services. **Ceiling prices** are provided for each HV Zone in [T7A_Ceiling_Prices.csv](https://connecteddata.nationalgrid.co.uk/dataset/constraint-management-zone-cmz-tranche-7a/resource/0250c96c-71d6-4d0d-8f0b-b1fb66e8b613).
