Availability of EDF SA's nuclear fleet - since 2002Source

Abstract: History of the availability of the French nuclear fleet. The Kd, or availability coefficient, represents the available energy in relation to the maximum theoretical energy, corresponding to operation at the installed power all year round. Details: Availability of a power plant Fraction of the available power over the maximum theoretical power, taking into account only technical unavailability. The availability coefficient (Kd) is defined as the ratio between the actual annual production capacity (or annual deliverable) and the maximum theoretical production capacity (= installed capacity × 8,760 hours). The Kd, which only takes into account technical unavailability, i.e. scheduled outages, unplanned outages and test periods, characterises the industrial performance of a plant. Kd reflects the overall behaviour of the equipment. Load limitations due to causes external to the unit and due to internal causes not related to the equipment or the operation of the unit are not taken into account for the calculation of this rate. Here you will find a site that allows you to visualise, on a map, the state of availability of the present, past and future nuclear fleet.

National Water Census

The National Water Census is a USGS research program on national water availability and use that develops new water accounting tools and assesses water availability at the regional and national scales. Through the Water Census, USGS is integrating diverse research on water availability and use and enhancing the understanding of connection between water quality and water availability. Research is designed to build decision support capacity for water management agencies and other natural resource managers.

This endpoint provides a forward view of availability (also referred to as Output Useable data under the Grid Code) for generation and interconnector capacity, accounting for planned outages covering availability data from 2 days ahead to 14 days ahead; it is aggregated by National Grid Balancing Mechanism Units (NGC BMUs). In the context of this report, BMUs can be considered as generating units. Elexon BMUs differs from NGC BMUs by including a prefix e.g. 'T_'. The mapping between NGC and Elexon BMUs can be retrieved via reference data API endpoints.
