The NM Office of the State Engineer (OSE) "Point of Diversions" (POD) layer includes well locations, surface declarations, or surface permits updated on a monthly basis. These data were extracted from the OSE W.A.T.E.R.S. (Water Administration Technical Engineering Resource System) database and geo-located (mapped). These data have varying degrees of accuracy and have not been validated. Data included in this dataset only includes PODs that have coordinates located within the State of New Mexico. This message is to alert users of this data to various changes regarding how this POD data is generated and maintained by the NM Office of the State Engineer. In addition, all attribute fields are fully described in the metadata, including descriptions of field codes. Please read the metadata accompanying this GIS data layer for further information. TDEC is continuously striving to create better business practices through GIS and one way that we have found to provide information and answer some question is utilizing an interactive map. An interactive map is a display of geospatial data that allows you to manipulate and query the contents to get the information needed using a set of provided tools. Interactive maps are created using GIS software, and then distributed to users, usually over a computer network. The TDEC Land and Water interactive map will allow you to do simple tasks such as pan, zoom, measure and find a lat/long, while also giving you the capability of running simple queries to locate land and waters by name, entity, and number. With the ability to turn off and on back ground images such as aerial imagery (both black and white as well as color), we hope that you can find much utility in the tools provided.
THIS DATA ASSET NO LONGER ACTIVE: This is metadata documentation for Web Air Permits in Region 7 (WAP R7), a Lotus Notes application that once tracked comment periods on air permits. This work fell under objectives for EPA's 2006-2011 Strategic Plan (Goal 5) for Compliance and Environmental Stewardship which are to achieve environmental protection through improved compliance and environmental stewardship (i.e., monitoring and enforcement). It was determined that this application was no longer used and was terminated on 5/22/2013. Data entries relating to air permits is now entered into an Excel spreadsheet and it is unclear if the original WAP database can be found.
